![]() In the antebellum south, Henry’s parents were worried of his future and so they made the trek to Canada via the Underground Railroad. Henry Fitzbutler was born in 1842 in Virginia to his enslaved father and a mother who was an indentured servant from Great Britain. Wendell civic leader, physician, and humanitarian.
